Pilot Study of Fluctuating Lake Levels on the Upper St. Croix Lake (January 2001)

A two-year study of precipitation and fluctuating lake level on the Upper St. Croix Lake was initiated in 1999 to better understand controls on periodic flooding which causes shoreline erosion, property damage and land use planning problems for residents along the lakeshore.

"The bottom line for residents of the Upper St. Croix Lake sub-basin is the recognition that if you occupy floodplain areas of the watershed sub-basin, you can expect to be impacted by rising lake levels...."

Several newspaper articles from September 1945 describing the views of Solon Springs and Gordon property owners who are irate over fluctuating water levels can be downloaded here (requires Adobe Acrobat).
