Trumpeter Round-up

2005 Trumpeter Swan Cygnet Round-up

DNR staff and volunteers rounded-up Trumpeter swan cygnets for collaring and data-gathering on Lower Ox Lake northeast of Gordon on the morning of September 1, 2005.

DNR staff and volunteers meet to plan round-up.

Six kayaks, three canoes, and power boat are launched. Note: Smaller volunteer at left was too young to paddle.

Overhead in Cessna, pilot gives instruction to individual watercraft. Ok, ok, the picture is a bit fuzzy.

Canoes take up position to herd cygnets once they are convinced to leave the wild rice. They cannot yet fly.
