2005 FOTSCH Water Monitoring (St. Croix Headwaters Segment)

Surface water-quality monitoring activities are divided into two categories:

  1. Citizen-based monitoring activities using the Water Action Volunteer (WAV) program

  2. Advanced monitoring activities in partnership with UW-Stevens Point Center for Watershed Science and Education

Samples will be collected for water analysis at the state-certified UWSP Water and Environmental Analysis Lab (WEAL).

Analysis will be the standard River Package that includes Total and Soluble Reactive P, NO2+NO3-N, NH4, Total Kjedahl N, TSS, and chloride.  At the time of sample collection, flow measurements will be made using WAV technique along with a Marsh McBirney flow meter and staff gage readings will be recorded.

Standard QA/QC methods for WAV and advanced monitoring will be followed.
